Hoffman home to new Northwest Fourth-Fest

Hoffman Estates has been known for its popular, Fourth of July festival. This year, the village has partnered with Elgin, Hanover Park and Hanover Township for the “Northwest Fourth-Fest.”

This will be the Northwest Chicago suburb’s biggest Fourth of July celebration.

The five-day event kicks off at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4, with a carnival and festival at a new location — the Sears Centre Arena grounds, 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway.

The new site features over 6,000 free parking spaces, free admission (charge for food, beverages, carnival rides and games) live entertainment and family fun.

Independence Day will end with a spectacular fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.

The Northwest Fourth-Fest is highlighted by free live performances by several bands, bingo with cash prizes (sponsored by the Hoffman Estates Athletic Association), a diaper derby (sponsored by buybuy Baby), pony rides (sponsored by Schaumburg Township District Library), TNZ Magic Show, face painting, a bags tournament with cash prizes (sponsored by America’s Bar & Grill), a water balloon toss contest and Billy the Balloon Guy.

Interested in multicultural entertainment? On both Wednesday and Saturday from 2-6 p.m., the Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission will present a cavalcade of ethnic music, dancing and fun. Featured acts include Agape Greek Dancers, Elgin OPERA, Fox River Trio, Grupo Folklórico Quetzal, guitarist Jose Verduzco, Lao Dancers, Midwest Buddhist Temple Taiko Group, Rebecca McCarthy School of Irish Dance, Second Baptist Church of Elgin Chorale Ensemble and Vidhya Babu Indian Dancers, among others.

More than 20 local food vendors, including Eshticken Pizza, Frank’s Chicago Shrimp House, Garibaldi’s, Panda Express, Poplar Creek Bowl/Official’s Time Out, and Sukhadia’s Sweets and Snacks, among others, will serve up delicious fare.

Free music throughout the Northwest Fourth-Fest will be supplied by Ambassadors, Diamonds and Kings; American English; Brian Lavender; ABBA Salute; M&R Rush; and legendary rock band Survivor.
