Numbers, literature and the West Coast featured in July programming at Schaumburg Park District
Keep children learning this summer in educational general interest programs offered by Schaumburg Park District.
Discover the West Coast in Travel USA! The class will cover one West Coast state at a time and children ages 5 to 9 will learn about each state's history, traditions and famous landmarks. Class meets Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m., July 12 to Aug. 2 at Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane.
I Love Number$ will encourage children ages 7 to 10 to apply basic math skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and estimation to solve real life problems. Numbers will come to life in interesting and challenging ways. Participants will learn how numbers apply to managing money and time. Class options available include Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon, July 9 to 30 at Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, and Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m., July 10 to 31 at Bock Neighborhood Center.
Children ages 7 to 10 will be introduced to children's prose, poetry and drama in Camp Literature. Class will include interactive sessions on different genres of writing, illustrating and basic tools, and techniques of creative writing. Participants will develop a keen interest in reading and writing. Class runs Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., July 11 to Aug. 1 at Bock Neighborhood Center.
Cost per class is $42 for residents and $62 for non-residents. Pre-registration is required for programs. Registration is available at Schaumburg Park District registration facilities and parkfun.com.
