Hoffman Estates approves plans for new Audi dealership

While residents initially had hesitations, no resident had questions about a new car dealership coming to Hoffman Estates.

The village of Hoffman Estates unanimously approved planning zoning requests from Hall Enterprises LLC at the Monday board meeting at the village hall council chambers.

This allows Schaumburg Audi, owned by Hall Enterprises to move to 1200 Golf Road in Hoffman Estates to expand its business. The site formerly hosted the village hall and police station but has been demolished. Hall Enterprises bought the property in December 2011.

Residents had expressed concern about lighting at a June planning and zoning commission meeting, so trustee Karen Mills asked if the lighting issues had been resolved.

Brian Hall, general manager, said Schaumburg Audi negotiated with residents. Lights along the west end of the property will be a maximum of 18 feet; they will be a maximum of 25 feet everywhere else. Deflectors along the west property line will keep light away from residential properties.

Residents were also concerned about tree removal, but the car dealership promised that while they would remove some trees, they would also plant trees that will grow a few feet a year.

All motions carried for the plan of subdivision, site plan and zoning code for the Audi dealership 6-0. Trustee Raymond Kincaid was absent.

Hall said the company plans to break ground at the end of July.
