Look to the suburban skies in the coming nights, as they light up with bursts of color from Independence Day fireworks displays.

Most displays are on the Fourth of July, of course, but several towns fire up the fireworks on Tuesday, July 3, -- or even sooner.

Here's our annual sampling of local fireworks celebrations:

Arlington Heights
Dusk Wednesday, July 4, at Arlington Park, 2200 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights. Fireworks are part of a full day of horse racing, music and family events, with gates opening at 1 p.m. July 4. First post is 3 p.m. Admission for the full day and/or the fireworks is $12; youth ages 17 and under are free with a paying adult. Visit arlingtonpark.com.

Aurora
Dusk Wednesday, July 4, at Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, 1500 W. Sullivan Road, on property bounded by Edgelawn Drive, Sullivan, Randall and Indian Trail roads, Aurora. Music, food vendors and kids' activities start at 5 p.m. Free admission. (630) 256-3370.

Barrington
