Harper administrator to serve as IMSA principal

Harper College assistant provost and Batavia resident Diana Sharp will begin to lead the Illinois Math and Science Academy July 1 when she starts as the school’s new principal.

Sharp previously served as Harper’s interim dean for divisions including mathematics and sciences, liberal arts, business and social sciences and resources for learning. She also held leadership roles at several other colleges and universities.

IMSA is hiring Sharp as the successor to Principal Eric G. McLaren of Aurora, who is living with Lou Gehrig’s disease. McLaren, the school’s principal since 1999 and vice president for academic programs since 2004, will continue to advise IMSA administration during the leadership transition.
