Dining events: Get your gator at Frontier

Got gator?

If you're hankerin' for a bayou favorite, head to Frontier for barbecued alligator. That's right, gators ranging in size from four to six feet are smoked and stuffed with whole chickens. Each gator will serve eight to 12 people. Sides include Caesar salad, cornbread, duck and andouille sausage jambalaya, and succotash. Changarro opens in West Chicago

A new Mexican-Brazilian fusion restaurant is now open in West Chicago serving dishes such as memelas with shrimp, pear squash and chipotles and Brazilian chopped beef with carrots, green beans and bacon. Tortas made with adobo marinated pork loin, grilled pineapple and lettuce and pan-seared tilapia tacos are also on the menu. Owner and manager Ricardo Santos formerly managed the bar at the popular Bien Trucha in Geneva. Changarro serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday and lunch on Sunday. Changarro is at 1400 S. Falafel not just a dream

Mediterranean restaurant I Dream of Falafel is coming to Oakbrook Terrace in the former Cosi space. The fast casual restaurant uses fresh, local and healthy, high-quality ingredients — including grain-fed, cage free meats — in its wraps, salads and protein plates. I Dream of Falafel plans to open what will be its fourth area eatery this fall. It will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week. I Dream of Falafel, 18W066 22nd St., Oakbrook Terrace.
