Five charged during Naperville prostitution sting

Five people — including two from Palatine and one from Vernon Hills — were charged during a prostitution sting Friday in Naperville, authorities said Tuesday.

Melissa S. Ronczkowski, 23, of Bolingbrook; Michael A. Porter, 22, of Clarendon Hills; Sharon L. Romaine, 50, of Vernon Hills; and Sherry A. Cameron, 33, and Tara A. Zagone, 19, both of Palatine, all face charges, Naperville Sgt. Gregg Bell said.

Cameron and Zagone were arrested together at 4:48 p.m., while Romaine was taken into custody about 7:58 p.m., Bell said. All three were charged with prostitution.

Ronczkowski was charged with prostitution, along with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia during her arrest at 8:44 p.m., Bell said. Porter was charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana and driving with an expired registration during his arrest at 8:44 p.m. Bell said.

Bell said all five were picked up during the FBI's nationwide Operation Cross Country VI, an effort by law agencies to crack down on child prostitution. Bell said no children were involved in the Naperville sting.

Bell said Naperville police monitored social networking websites offering massages and undercover officers set up meetings with people in the ads at hotels and motels. Multiple arrests have been made after sexual favors were offered to officers in exchange for money.

Bonds and court dates for the five were not available Tuesday.
