Buffalo Grove to hold Green Fair Sunday

The Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team is holding the village’s first Green Fair 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Mike Rylko Park, next to the farmers market.

The free event for the whole family will provide information and activities to help residents learn about the small steps they can all take at home, work and in the community to improve their environment and make Buffalo Grove a greener and healthier place to live.

There are 19 confirmed exhibitors for the event, including the Lions Club, Avenues to Independence, Working Bikes Cooperative, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, Buffalo Creek Clean Watershed Partnership, Buffalo Grove Park District and New Life for Old Bags.

Many exhibitors will be collecting recyclable materials, including shoes, eye glasses, hearing aids, books, batteries and plastic bags. Others will be teaching about topics such as rain barrel use and composting. Working Bikes won’t be accepting bikes at this event but will do so later this summer at the farmers market.
