27 needy kids have dream birthday, thanks to Naperville club
The Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club have kicked off their summer philanthropic ventures by donating $1,500 to the Humanitarian Service Project's Children's Birthday Project.
The Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club has worked closely with HSP since being established in 1999, contributing not only to the Children's Birthday Project, but to several other HSP programs as well. This generous donation will provide impoverished children living in DuPage County with a package of birthday goodies.
Within this sizable 20 to 25 lbs birthday package are all of the essentials for a young child's dream birthday, including 6 to 10 carefully selected gifts, 6 crisp new books, indispensable school supplies, stuffed animals, 3 filler gifts and all the makings of a fun-filled birthday party. In the actual birthday party bags are balloons, streamers, party favors, cake, frosting, plates, hats, etc. The project is designed to provide fun, memorable birthday experiences to children throughout the community who are living below the poverty threshold, and would be without such opportunities otherwise.
The 450-member strong Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club was created as a social organization with the goal of bringing together new and long-term residents of Naperville through “educational, social and charitable activities”. NNNC's most recent donation will provide sponsorship to an astounding twenty-seven children who are in the Children's Birthday Project program.HSP's Children's Birthday Project program touches the lives of over 888 children in the local community, giving them the kind of birthday that every child deserves. Almost all of the children involved in HSP's Feed the Kids program, which provides life-saving groceries to needy children throughout the summer, are also enrolled in HSP's Children's Birthday Project program.

About The Humanitarian Service Project
HSP's mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty creates in seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois. Last year during the Christmas Offering, 1,600 children received gifts and 100 impoverished families received three weeks of groceries, frozen meats, and fresh produce. With the Senior Citizen Project, HSP provides a monthly food delivery and secret pal gifts to 120 low-income seniors. The Children's Birthday Project reaches the youngest underprivileged, making birthdays and Christmas truly memorable occasions for 900 children. Feed the Kids provides low-income families with groceries and fresh produce. HSP conducts an annual school supplies drive, which sends supplies to the DuPage Back to School Fair in addition to furnishing schools and individual children with necessary supplies.
