Patriotic bracelets support Elgin young musicians

Submitted by Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra

Brighton Jewelry has partnered with The Little Traveler, 404 S. Third St. in Geneva, to sell 100 of a limited edition I.D. style bracelet celebrating the American culture and spirit in support of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, a local youth arts organization. The bracelet costs $48, $51.60 with tax, and can be purchased in-store through July 31.

The Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra was chosen for this opportunity and half of all proceeds will benefit the orchestra in its mission to provide music opportunities for musicians from fourth grade through college.

This limited edition I.D. style bracelet is inspired by the American flag and is artfully adorned with Swarovski crystals in two shades of red, two shades of blue, and two crystalline hues. It’s perfect to wear year-round.

The Little Traveler will sell bracelets in-store through July 31 or until quantities are sold out. Pre-orders have already been processed and it is anticipated that the bracelets will sell out quickly.

The EYSO regular season includes nine concert performances at the Blizzard Theatre on the main campus of Elgin Community College. In addition, the Chamber Music Institute performs each semester; the Brass Choir performs every spring; and the Maud Powell String Quartet and Hanson String Quartet, and the Sterling Brass Quintet (EYSO honors chamber groups) also perform throughout the year.

In addition to concert performances, students have the opportunity to work and play with world-renown musicians and ensembles. Most recently, members of the Youth Orchestra had the opportunity to participate in the EYSO Civil War Tour where they were able to perform in Kennesaw, Ga.; Savannah, Ga.; and Gettysburg, Penn. Students explored the relationship between history and music as it related to the 2011-12 season theme — Arts and Minds.
