Arlington Park will host the 13th annual Prairie State Festival on Saturday. The festival will include six races of Illinois thoroughbreds, each with $125,000 stakes.
Class Break, who will run with jockey Quincy Hamilton, is a headliner for the Purple Violet Stakes, a one-mile Polytrack race for 3-year-old fillies,
The Springfield Stakes for 3-year-olds is headlined by Report Card and jockey Francisco Torres, who are coming off four straight wins.
Third Chance, ridden by Cisco Torres, is the favorite in the Isaac Murphy Handicap for fillies and mares 3 years old and up.
After winning the White Oak Handicap in 2009, River Bear and his regular jockey Danush Sukie will return to the race as the favorite. The race is six furlongs for 3-year-olds and up.
The Lincoln Heritage Handicap, for fillies and mares 3 years and up, features Cumulonimble as the slight favorite. Running with jockey James Graham, she will look to defend her title from last year.
Finally, in the Black Tie Affair Handicap, defending champion Tazz is the largest horse in the race and will look to win the race for the second year in a row. Tazz will run with jockey Seth Martinez in the turf race for horses age 3 and older.
