Boy dies after being pulled from Lake Michigan

Authorities in Chicago are trying to figure out what led to the death of a 14-year-old boy who was pulled from Lake Michigan after going swimming with friends.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office on Wednesday identified the boy as Jorge Sosa.

Chicago Park District spokeswoman Jessica Maxey-Faulkner says two other boys told lifeguards they’d been swimming with their friend but couldn’t find him.

Lifeguards began to search and found the teen after sweeping the lake along North Avenue Beach in a line Tuesday afternoon.

The lifeguards tried to revive the boy, but authorities say he died late Tuesday at Lurie Children’s Hospital.
