Schaumburg Park Foundation hosts Solstice Hop and Vine Fest

A variety of wineries, breweries and food vendors will fill the Spring Valley prairie in honor of the summer solstice.

Schaumburg Park Foundation's Solstice Hop and Vine Fest will be from 6-9 p.m., Saturday, June 16, at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.

“The evening features the region's finest wines and brews on the prairie and supports the campaign to renovate the Nature Center at Spring Valley,” said foundation Executive Vice President Pat Casler.

The fest will feature smooth jazz by Together Again, nature walks among the fireflies and food by Whole Foods Market Schaumburg, Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar, Moe's Southwest Grill, Moretti's Ristorante and Pizzeria, and Riccardo's Ristorante.

Wineries and breweries will sample tastings and sell bottles of sampled wines. Nonalcoholic beverages and tasting plate of snacks will be available. All guests will receive a commemorative wineglass.

Participating wineries and breweries led by home winery Lynfred Winery include Acquaviva Winery; Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurants; Fox Valley Winery, Inc.; Hailey's Winery, Ltd.; The Lucky Monk Burger, Pizza and Beer Co.; Ram Restaurant and Brewery; Village Vintner Winery; and Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery.

“Last year's sold-out event was a success for the renovation campaign and this year will be another memorable experience for guests,” said Casler.

Admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the door, and includes 10 tastings. Additional tasting tickets will be available for purchase at the event.

Tickets are now available for sale at Spring Valley Nature Center, the Jerry Handlon Administration Building, 235 E. Beech Drive, or online at parkfun.com. Ticket sales are limited. If available, tickets will be sold until 5 p.m. Friday, June 15.

Guests must be age 21 to attend; a valid ID is required. Parking will only be available at Olympic Park, 1675 E. Old Schaumburg Road. A convenient shuttle will provide transportation to the fest.
