4½ years for South Elgin DUI
A Westchester man was recently sentenced to 4½ years in prison after pleading guilty to at least his fourth DUI, according to court records.
Tommy J. Droulias, 41, of the 10800 block of Windsor Drive, was arrested in South Elgin July 9, 2011, after he almost crashed into a police car in a parking lot in the 300 block of Randall Road.
He also was accused of driving in a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with his two nephews, then 10 and 12, in the back seat without seat belts on. The vehicle had been reported stolen.
He also was charged with fighting with police at the station.
Droulias pleaded guilty earlier this year to his fourth DUI and driving up to 14 times while his license was suspended.
The guilty plea was in exchange for prosecutors dropping charges of possession of a stolen automobile, aggravated battery, endangering the life of a child, resisting arrest and transportation of open alcohol.
Judge Marmarie Kostelny issued the sentence.
He can have his sentence halved for good behavior and also got credit for 328 days in jail while his case was pending.
