Backyard makeover Week 5: Spring is for new beginnings

I believe our backyard deserves a makeover because it hasn’t had one in 17 years. Seventeen years ago my husband, Tom, suffered a brain anuerysm/stroke at the very young age of 36. Even though it left him parially paralyzed on his left side he still tries to maintain the yard. Unfortunately he cannot do the things he would like to do with the yard because of his disability; he is not physically able to do so. This would be a true blessing for us as we just love sitting outside. Tom’s illness came in the spring of 1996 just when all the flowers were beginning to bloom. It was an awesome reminder to us that winter can be harsh (just like life) but spring is a time of new life and new beginnings and we saw that as Tom began to recover. It would be a wonderful gift for my husband to be able to enjoy our backyard once again. It has been lying dormant for years and to see it come alive would be such a thrill. My husband is such an awesome man; he has never complained about his illness, but only gives thanks for being alive. I know this would bless him tremendously. Thank you for your consideration.

What the experts at Aquascape recommend, with a budget of $4,000 to $8,000:

A melodic waterfall created with moss rock boulders will bring this bland landscape to life with the sight and sound of running water. Studies show that views of beautiful, natural landscapes can lower blood pressure and improve overall health. A low-maintenance waterfall is sure to boost the spirits of this family as they deal with physical limitations. The water will attract birds, butterflies, and other forms of wildlife creating a true backyard paradise for the entire family to enjoy. Waterfall lights will extend viewing hours well into the evening.

1) Aquascape Pondless Waterfall System (includes pump, plumbing, biological and mechanical filters

2) Moss Rock Boulders, creating a very natural effect

3) Waterfall lights for extended nighttime viewing

4) IonGen™ electronic water clarifier to reduce maintenance
