Ty Pennington to join Ribfest grillers
The band of traveling rib vendors won't be the only ones grilling at Naperville's Ribfest this year.
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” star Ty Pennington and three other celebrity grillers will be taming the flames and offering barbecue advice at the annual festival from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 30.
Ribfest attendees can watch grill demonstrations by Pennington, as well as cooking and lifestyle TV host George Hirsch, “Grill Grrrl” blogger Robyn Lindars and “Burnin' Love BBQ” chef Perry Perkins.
The grilling experts are coming to Ribfest with the Sears Grilling is Happiness campaign, which includes an online community aiming to unite and inspire novice and experienced grillers with new recipes and tips. They'll be offering advice on grilling recipes and techniques as well as how to find the right grill.
Pennington fans can snap a photo with the designer and TV host and can enter a contest for the chance to win a new grill of their own.
Sears also will donate $5,000 to the Exchange Club of Naperville, which sponsors Ribfest, to further its mission of eliminating child abuse and domestic violence.
