Bandits add postgame fireworks to June 9 game

The Chicago Bandits announced a fireworks show will immediately follow the June 9 home game against USSSA Pride. The event will mark the first postgame show for The Ballpark in Rosemont, the Bandits’ home field.

“With the stadium’s close proximity to the airport, we never thought something like this would be possible,” Bandits general manager Aaron Moore said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to an excellent opening series between two first-class teams and all of the festivities will be a great way to start the season.”

In addition to the post game fireworks, the 2011 Bandits squad will be receive their National Pro Fastpitch championship rings from last season. Former star Jennie Finch will also be in attendance for the unveiling of her retirement banner. The Olympic Gold medalist played for the Bandits from 2005 to 2010.

Bandits fans can also relive the team’s NPF Championship Series victory over the pride at Muvico Theaters in Rosemont on June 6. The Bandits partnered with Muvico Theaters and Bogart’s to present a one-night showing of the game. Tickets can be purchased online for $12, which includes a meet-and-greet with the team and dinner from Bogart’s.

The defending champions will look to repeat last season’s success when they take the field against the Pride June 7-10 to open the regular season in Rosemont. The Bandits will play an exhibition contest against the Bloomington Lady Hearts on June 2 at home.
