This is an Ahninga (Snake Head) taken in Tortuguero National Park, Caribbean side of Costa Rica. They fish under water, but lack the oils that other underwater fishing birds possess, so they must dry out in the sun before they can fly again. As it fishes, it sticks its head above water resembling a snake from a distance, hence the common name.
