Police investigating gang shooting in Wheeling

Wheeling police are investigating a report of shots fired on Thursday night in what they said they believe was gang-related activity.

Police responded to the shots in the 100 block of St. Armand Lane in Wheeling at 6 p.m. Thursday and found no one was injured, said Deputy Chief John Teevans.

According to the preliminary investigation, a group of people were walking on the sidewalk when a dark-colored SUV pulled up alongside them.

Someone reportedly got out of the vehicle and fire shots with a rifle-type weapon.

No suspects are in custody and police do not have further description about the car, weapon or people involved.
