Author to present debut novel at Cook Park Library

Deborah Michel, seasoned magazine editor and freelance writer, will read from her recently released debut novel, "Prosper in Love," at the Cook Park Library at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15.

This novel is both a richly detailed comedy of manners and an insightful look at modern marriage. It tells the story of a couple whose love is meant to last forever, until it doesn't.

Michel lives in Palo Alto, and has worked at a long list of publications, including House Beautiful, Premiere and the Los Angeles Times magazine. She worked as an editor and night life columnist for Avenue magazine, was the West Coast correspondent for Spy, and served as a contributing editor at Buzz.

This free event is open to the public but registration is required. To register, call (847) 362-2330 or visit webres.cooklib.org.

Michel's publisher, Penguin Publishing, is donating several bags filled with books that will be given out randomly to audience members, so register early. Books for signing will be available to purchase courtesy of Lake Forest Bookstore.

The Cook Park Library is at 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., in Libertyville.
