Tiller’s killer effort lifts Stevenson

Brad Tiller rang up 8 kills on 9-of-10 hitting, as Stevenson’s boys volleyball team remained undefeated in the North Suburban Conference with a 25-21, 25-10 win over Lake Forest on Wednesday night.

Stevenson (22-2, 6-0) also got 5 kills from Collin Ryan and four apiece from Aaron Appelbaum and Jason Fleischman. Mitch Robinson and Brian Dubinsky each served 2 aces, and Jonah May dished out 28 assists.

Lake Forest was paced by Henry Lamp and Harry Funk with 4 and 3 kills, respectively.

Vernon Hills d. Lakes: Martin Niemczewski slammed 9 kills in the Cougars’ 25-6, 25-21 win.

Thomas Robinson added 5 kills, while Ryan Opitz contributed 3 aces and 6 assists, as Vernon Hills improved to 19-2 and 6-1 in the North Suburban.

Jake Baruch was 22-of-23 setting with 10 assists.

“Jake Baruch set really well once he got settled in, and Chris Edwards (3-of-3 serving, 2 digs) put us in system with his solid passing all night,” Vernon Hills coach Chris Curry said.

Chase Binkley had 5 kills for Lakes, and Richard Galat lofted 12 assists. Sean Donovan had 7 digs for the Eagles.

Mundelein d. Antioch: Parker Tortorello’s 8 kills led the Mustangs in their 25-12, 20-25, 25-13 win.

Mundelein (13-17, 2-4 NSC) also got 6 kills from Blake Burton and four from Corey Flores.

Libertyville d. Zion-Benton: Tyler Erlandson had 13 kills and Brandon Leatherwood added 11, as the Wildcats captured a 25-21, 23-25, 25-20 win in a North Suburban thriller.

Teddy Kopacz was spectacular with 49 assists, and Stew Zacher had 13 digs for Libertyville. Griffin Rush slammed 9 kills for the Wildcats.
