Model profile: Edgewater

Three new model homes are open at Edgewater, an active-adult community of single-family ranch homes that offers a resort-style setting and loads of amenities.

With an impressive boulevard entrance, the community sits off Bowes Road just west of Randall Road on Elgin’s west side.

“These models appeal to younger active-adult buyers,” said Maria Wilhelm, vice president of sales for Pulte Homes. “For example, the Montrose has a very open floor plan with a beautiful backsplash and satin nickel hardware in the kitchen.

“They have done a nice job with the open floor concept, and we’re in a great location. With consumer confidence high coupled with these brand new models, response has been phenomenal.”

Edgewater homeowners enjoy the Del Webb lifestyle, which includes Creekside Lodge, the social hub of the community. Lodge highlights include a state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a billiards room, bocce ball and tennis courts, and a playground for visiting grandkids. A lifestyle director coordinates special events, trips and clubs for residents.

The facility also includes three multipurpose activity rooms, a business center, computer area with Internet access and a sunroom and lounge.

The gated development opened in May 2005 and features construction of more than 1,000 homes with two to four bedrooms, two to three baths, attached two- or three-car garages and some basements. A four-foot extended garage is also available per site selection.

Homes feature low-maintenance vinyl siding in several colors, fully sodded homesites and a front landscaping package with a variety of shrubs.

Among three new models in the Lakeshore Series is the Montrose, priced from $207,990 with 1,547 square feet, two bedrooms plus den and two full baths. A patio, garden room and basement are optional.

In the decorated model home, an arched entry brings you into the foyer and great room. A burgundy table runner tops the dining table set for four, while an ornate mirror gives the great room space a touch of elegance.

With plenty of possibilities, the great room with optional fireplace and an intimate furniture arrangement can be a cozy spot for relaxing at home. Or for entertaining, guests can gather throughout the open area that flows into the kitchen and out to the patio.

The kitchen features black cabinetry and appliances along with a decorative backsplash. A round breakfast table overlooks the backyard while sliding glass doors access the patio. A center island and pantry give the room extra work space and storage.

The owner’s suite shows burgundy drapes with striped valance that complements the gold bed cover. A huge walk-in closet will accommodate extensive wardrobes while the private bath features dual sinks, tub and separate shower.

French doors open to the den where owners can catch up on work or relax with a book. The room features a desk with bookcase and love seat.

Off the foyer sits a guest room with bed, dresser and mirror where guests will feel at home with a full bath adjacent to the room.

Another model is Marina, priced from $169,990 with 1,197 square feet, two bedrooms, two baths and two-car garage. Options include a patio and garden room.

A covered entry brings you into the tiled foyer with decorative molding that shows the detail included in this open design with great room.

Straight back, the great room layout is conducive to entertaining, as there’s plenty of space for guests. The dining table along with the overhang can be set up with a buffet. On the other hand, the space can accommodate a cozy furniture arrangement for quiet evenings at home.

The kitchen shows maple cabinetry, white appliances and a pantry. An angled half wall with overhang separates the kitchen from the living area but doesn’t close it off.

Also in the rear, the owner’s suite features an optional bay window that overlooks the back yard. There is enough room for a king sized bed, end tables, dresser and mirror and a reading area near the window. A large walk-in closet will please buyers.

Green and gold pair up in the front guest room set up for grandma who likes looking through old photos. A full bath with striped wallpaper is adjacent to the room.

The third model is the Monroe from $179,990 with 1,547 square feet, two bedrooms, two baths and optional patio and garden room.

Edgewater residents must have one person per household 55 years of age or older.

To visit the community, take I-90 to Randall Road, south to Bowes Road, turn west to the community on the right side of the road. Follow the signs to the sales center and model park, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
