Strawberry Bruschetta

4 slices bread, Italian-style preferred

3 tablespoons hazelnut-chocolate spread, such as Nutella

4-5 strawberries, sliced

2 tablespoons turbinado sugar

Toast both sides of the bread slices on a griddle or in a toaster. Spread the chocolate spread evenly over the top of each slice. Add the fresh strawberries over the chocolate spread and sprinkle the turbinado sugar over the strawberries.

Take a kitchen torch and caramelize the sugar so it bubbles but does not burn. Alternately, caramelize the sugar under the oven broiler.

Serves four.
