Krzysko ties Barrington homer mark
Junior Loren Krzysko tied the all-time Barrington softball record for home runs Friday by belting her 22nd as the Fillies topped visiting Hoffman Estates 10-0 in five innings in the Mid-Suburban West.
Krzysko’s eighth homer of the season was one of 18 hits for Barrington (15-3, 5-1), which was led by Jordan Wekony (4-for-4, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), Raegan Fingerman (4-for-4, 3 runs), Krzysko (2-for-4, homer, 2 RBI), Ally McLaughlin (2-for-4, 1 run), Tess Bolger (1-for-3, home run, 2 RBI), Kelsey Kazmier (2-for-3, 1 run) and K.D. Madden (1-for-2, double, RBI).
Wekony was playing her first game in three weeks after suffering a dislocated finger in a March 31 quad at Barrington.
Krzysko’s milestone blast to center field came in the Fillies’ 7-run second inning. She is now tied with Ashley Berggren for career homers at Barrington.
Junior Cassidy Kraimer (8-2) pitched the first three innings to earn the win, striking out three and giving up 1 hit. Senior Emma Woods went the final three innings with 2 strikeouts and 1 hit.
Alexis Filler and Nicole LaBeck had the only hits for Hoffman (3-10-1, 1-5). Freshman Charlotte Allan (3-9) took the loss.
Conant 5, Schaumburg 2: Senior Briana Cavin (15-1) threw a 4-hitter with 8 strikeouts for Conant (16-1, 6-0), which defeated Renee Kakareka (2-4) and the host Saxons (8-8, 2-4) in the MSL West.
“We played an excellent game,” said Saxons coach Ellen Stoddard, whose offense was led by Aubrey Lopshire (1-for-2), Alyssa Lancaster (2-for-3, double, 2 RBI) and Dana Giannelli (1-for-3).
The Cavin sisters led the Conant offense. Junior catcher Miranda Cavin went 3-for-4 with an RBI, 2 runs and 3 stolen bases while Briana Cavin was 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI.
Allie Bauch added a double for Conant.
Rolling Meadows 4, Hersey 3: Host Hersey (7-9, 1-5) had runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh inning when Meadows (12-5, 4-2) junior Sara Brunlieb got the final out on a grounder to third baseman Lane Winkler in the MSL East.
Sam Anderson (2-for-4) led the Meadows offense, which received an RBI double by Jenny Watson in a 4-run fifth inning.
Brunlieb struck out eight while Michelle Bolker (4-7) had 1 strikeout for Hersey.
Gina Fasolo hit a solo homer for Hersey while Sarah Platt (2-for-3) had an RBI single. Angela Lazzeritti also had an RBI double for the Huskies.
Elk Grove 11, Wheeling 0 (5 inn.): Becca Walz (2-for-3, home run, double, 2 RBI), Andrea Starr (1-for-3, 2 RBI), Elissa Payne (double, RBI), Tori Liewergen (2-for-3 hits, RBI, double) and Becca Maher (2-for-2, 3 RBI) led the offense for visiting Elk Grove (14-3, 5-1) in the MSL East.
Dani Goranson improved to 10-3 by throwing a 2-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks. Jackie Resnick and Nette Howard doubled for Wheeling (3-10, 1-5).
Prospect 9, Buffalo Grove 3: Senior Hanna Lythberg was the winning pitcher for the Knights (5-13, 2-4) over visiting Buffalo Grove (5-13, 1-5) in the MSL East.
