Tea for Two and 50 for Tea

Fifty little ladies and their mothers, grandmothers, and aunts, dressed up in their spring finery, enjoyed a spot o' tea and sweets at the 8th annual Des Plaines Park District Mother Daughter Tea on April 14, 2012, at Prairie Lakes Community Center. The guests dined on finger sandwiches, fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, and sweets, while sipping tea and punch. Over two dozen varieties of black, herbal, and green tea were served this year, including Cozy Chamomile, Orange Spice, Cranberry Apple, and a Royal Blend of Indian and Ceylon Tea imported from London.

After lunch, the girls were treated to a preview of Spring into Motion, the 2012 Artistry in Motion Spring Dance Concert. Dancers performed five award winning numbers from their program. After, participants at the tea modeled fashions from Twice A Round, a consignment and resale shop in Des Plaines. Mothers and daughters strutted down the catwalk in “like-new” fashions from the Lee Street store.

Participants also played spring bingo, tried their hand at Tea Trivia, and decorated a picture frame to hold their portrait, courtesy of the Des Plaines Camera Club.
