Earth Day celebration includes health fair

Saturday, April 21, is the annual celebration of Earth Day at Mead Park in Elk Grove Village.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., participants are invited to connect with nature and their natural selves with the theme “Healthy Planet Healthy You.”

The Elk Grove Park District chose to combine the Earth Day celebration with the annual health fair. Mobilize the Earth will feature Jim Nesci’s cold-blooded creatures, as well as 15-minute classes in zumba, yoga, dance and athletics. There also will be a hike along the Colony Park Trail and specialists will present in sustainable practices and health and wellness booths. Crafts will include rocket building and sidewalk painting. Alexian Brothers will have various health screenings available.

This free event will take place at 1769 Gibson Drive in Elk Grove Village. Parking is available at Mead Junior High, which is also the rain site.

For details and a full list of activities, call the Elk Grove Park District at (847) 437-9494 or visit elkgroveparks.org.
