Rollover crash investigated at Route 53 and Palatine Road

Illinois State Police are investigating a rollover crash this morning on a ramp leading from Route 53 to eastbound Palatine Road.

Police said a Jeep Grand Cherokee was northbound on Route 53 about 10 a.m. when it attempted to exit at Palatine Road and rolled over.

A Palatine fire official said the driver, a woman in her 40s, was the only occupant of the vehicle. She was evaluated by paramedics at the scene but refused treatment and was picked up by her husband, the official said.

Firefighters said the woman told them she was unable to steer the vehicle when attempting the navigate the ramp. As a result, the vehicle veered into the embankment and rolled over.

The ramp was closed for 45 minutes while a tow company arrived to remove the vehicle.

Police did not have information immediately available about the driver’s identification or whether citations had been issued.
