Obama should take action on gas prices

It is obvious that this administration either doesn’t have a clue what do about the escalating gas prices or just don’t have the political will to act. Since President Obama took office in 2009, the price of gasoline has increased over 100 percent. So I would like to offer a few actions that would possibly alleviate this situation that if unchecked will devastate our economy.

1. Remove the ridiculous blending requirements (sure to save at least $1/gal).

2. End speculation by requiring speculators to take ownership of oil on their bids — sure to quell their thirst for easy profits.

3. Impose an export tax on oil to level the field. This country has a surplus of oil but oil companies export our oil to China for higher prices.

4. Endorse the Keystone pipeline project, also adding thousands of jobs.

5. The world price of oil is based on the U.S. dollar — decreasing the $16 trillion national debt would strengthen the weak dollar thus driving down the price of oil.

6. Add air to your tires. You can’t take credit for this one since it is our president’s solution.

Maybe not all of these actions are 100 percent viable, but what we need now is a president who can think outside the box to solve a critical national crisis in the making. Do something!
