Glenbard East rallies to beat Montini
Glenbard East rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Montini 2-1 on Tuesday in Lombard. Catherine Priebe drew a leadoff walk for the Rams (2-0) and moved up on a passed ball. A walk and hit batter loaded the bases and Kara Tadda lined a base hit over the third baseman to score Priebe. On an ensuing throwing error Megan Cotterill came home with the winning run.
Naperville Central 13, Bolingbrook 4:
Nicole Kappelman and Kelsey Gonzalez each had 3 hits and scored 3 runs, Gonzalez driving in 2, to lead a 14-hit attack for the visiting Redhawks in their season opener. Winning pitcher Kristina Vizza threw six innings, striking out seven.
WW South 11, Addison Trail 1:
Cameron Briggs and Laura Foltz each slugged 2-run homers to pace an 11-hit attack for the Tigers (2-1) in Wheaton.
Glenbard South 6, Wheaton North 1:
Stephanie Chitkowski struck out 10 in her first start of the season for host Glenbard South (2-1). At the plate for the Raiders, Lisa Bartha went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, a double and 3 stolen bases.
Lisle 13, Wheaton Academy 0:
Mackenzie Buchelt hit her third homer in two days and drove in 5 runs to pace the host Lions (3-0). Abby Tarasewicz went 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 steals and Shelby Kretman 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Naperville North 3, Minooka 1:
The Huskies (1-1) scored 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to knock off Minooka. Steph Tobin had 2 hits for Naperville North and Kathleen Hahne notched the win.
Hinsdale Central 10, Timothy Christian 0:
Kelly MacKenzie fired a 2-hitter with 7 strikeouts for the Red Devils in their season opener in Elmhurst.
