Habitat taking applications for painting program

Submitted by Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is once again accepting applications for the “A Brush with Kindness” program. It assists families already in their own home who have a need for outside repairs or maintenance, and who may not be able to afford to do it on their own.

A Brush with Kindness is an exterior maintenance program designed to assist families who currently own their own home, but through whatever circumstances, have struggled to maintain the exterior.

Volunteer teams, working through Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley, will partner with homeowners to complete exterior maintenance which typically includes painting, minor repairs, landscape and cleanup.

Applicants and projects will be selected based on three factors:

Ÿ Need: Household income must fall within specific income guidelines. The range is between $10,560 and $43,750 depending on the size of the family.

Ÿ Willingness to partner: Homeowners must be present and willing to work with the volunteers.

Ÿ Type of project: The program focuses on one-to two-day projects involving minor repairs, landscape and clean up.

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is now accepting projects for 2012. Applications will be taken until June 15 or until our limit is reached. For more information or to receive an application, contact Connie Kitzinger, Family Services coordinator, at (847) 836-1432 or Connie.Kitzinger@habitatnfv.org.
