Wolves fall to San Antonio

The Chicago Wolves surrendered 2 third-period goals to the San Antonio Rampage and dropped their fourth straight game 2-1 Wednesday night at the Allstate Arena.

Defenseman Yann Sauve scored the only goal for the Wolves.

“We have had our struggles in the third, and it cost us once again,” said Wolves coach Craig MacTavish. “We need to correct this trend in a hurry.”

The Wolves (30-21-2-3) held a 1-0 lead entering the third period, but San Antonio (31-23-2-1) scored twice in a 4:26 span to grab the victory. The Rampage tied the score at 1-1 while on the power play at 3:45 of the final period.

The Rampage grabbed the game-winner at 8:11 when center Scott Timmins won a puck battle behind the Wolves net and sent the puck around to the near post, where defenseman Nolan Yonkman flicked a wrister that sneaked through the legs of goalie Eddie Lack, who stopped 30 shots.
