Elementary schools get new principals in the fall

Several Batavia School District 101 elementary schools will have different principals in the fall.

The school district is assigning one to a central office post, and transferring two others.

Cynthia Sikorski, principal of H.C. Storm Elementary on Van Nortwick Avenue, will become assistant director of curriculum and instruction in the central office. Her duties will include developing mandated Common Core curriculum and common grade-level assessments, and implementing the new teacher appraisal system required by the new state laws, according to district officials.

Sikorski has worked at H.C. Storm for 18 years.

Kris Webster, currently principal of Louise White Elementary on Prairie Street, will transfer across the river to H.C. Storm. She has been principal at Louise White for three years, and taught at the school for eight years before being named principal.

Kevin Skomer, principal of Grace McWayne Elementary, will move to Louise White. He has been principal of Grace McWayne for 14 years, including its move to a new building on West Main Street.

All changes take effect July 1.
