Arrest made in Waukegan shooting

A Waukegan man was arrested Thursday and charged in a recent gang-related shooting, according to police.

Johnathan J. Torres, 20, of the 500 block of South Genesee Street, was arrested on a warrant in connection with the Feb. 18 shooting, which left a man wounded, Waukegan police said.

Torres was charged with felony counts of aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

He is being held at the Lake County jail on $1 million bond.

The shooting occurred on the 2700 block of Belvidere Road, police said. The victim was shot once in the back and was treated at Vista East Hospital in Waukegan.
