Drug charges dropped against former ECC trucking director

Felony drug charges have been dropped against a 47-year-old St. Charles man and former truck driving program director at Elgin Community College.
Kane County prosecutors dropped charges recently against Alan Hauschild, of the 35W100 block of Fox River Drive, St. Charles, of felony possession of more than two pounds of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

The felony delivery charge carried a possible prison term of three to seven years, but probation also was an option.
Hauschild’s defense attorney, Vincent Solano, did not respond to phone messages.
Hauschild and his wife, Joy, were arrested in October 2011 at their home after members of the North Central Narcotics Task Force, a unit of the Illinois State Police, executed a search warrant.
Authorities said they seized 904 grams of marijuana and a scale. They noted some of drugs were “packaged for intended sale.”
The marijuana had a street value of about $4,000 and neighbors had complained about possible drug activity around the home, authorities said.
Joy Hauschild, 50, also faces felony charges of possession with intent to deliver.
Prosecutors have said she told authorities the marijuana was for medical use.
Authorities also arrested Cody Williams, 22, who was living in a finished portion of a detached garage on the property. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
He and Joy Hauschild are next due in court on Feb. 24. Both are free on bond while their cases are pending.
In fall 2010, Alan Hauschild, ECC’s truck driving program director, was placed on administrative leave after inconsistencies were found in his story that he gave to campus police that he was attacked in the school parking lot on Aug. 31. 2010.
ECC spokesman Jeff Julian said Hauschild is no longer employed at the college and that his last day was Nov. 19, 2010. Julian said he could not specify whether Hauschild resigned or was fired because it was a personnel issue.
