“Improving physician access to laboratory and other data is critical because it enhances meaningful use of electronic health records and prepares us all for the challenges of health care reform,” said Dennis DeMasie, vice president and CIO of Rush-Copley, which is part of Chicago-based Rush System for Health. “We selected Medicity because its solutions enable us to realize our goals of enhancing care coordination with local physicians today while positioning us to link with regional health information exchanges in the future.”

Rush-Copley will start its effort to create seamless data exchange by using Medicity Novo Grid to distribute lab results directly into the EHRs of affiliated physicians. Novo Grid enables hospitals to exchange results, reports and other patient data with both paper-based and EHR-enabled practices.

“We are excited to partner with Rush-Copley because we share their vision of leveraging technology to improve the quality, efficiency and cost of care,” said Brent Dover, Medicity’s president. “We look forward to working with them, as they embark on their transformative HIE journey.”
