Nebraska heavy on LBs and DLs in 17-man class

LINCOLN — Nebraska emphasized defense in its 2012 football recruiting class, with 11 of the 17 players signed expected to start their careers on that side of the ball.

Coach Bo Pelini brought in four linebackers. The best appears to be four-star recruit Zaire Anderson out of Riverside (Calif.) Community College.

The Cornhuskers signed four defensive linemen, including four-star end Greg McMullen of Akron, Ohio.

Four-star cornerback Mohammed Seisay out of Eastern Arizona Junior College is the top defensive back recruit.

The Huskers signed one quarterback, Tommy Armstrong of Gardena, Calif.

Nebraska lost one of its top targets, offensive lineman Andrus Peat of Tempe, Ariz. The 6-foot-7, 305-pound tackle, rated among the best at his position nationally, chose Stanford.
