Promote the use of existing electronic recording in order to save taxpayer dollars which has currently produced a reduction in the number of employees in the Recorder's Office.
Continue the free access to Dupage County land records. Maintain and improve the systems in place in order to ensure the continuity of that access in the event of a man made or natural disaster.
The technology does exist and was first used by the Dupage Recorder's office in Illinois. Electronic recording facilitates the recording process for both the submitter and the recorder's office. Operations have been streamlined, office headcount has been reduced and labor costs and turnaround time for all parties to the real estate transaction have been saved. Access to this information is a separate issue. All land records in Dupage County from 1961 are freely available on the Internet.
When I assumed the duties as Recorder, I took on an obligation to serve the public. The amount and quality of information provded on the office website as well as through the actions and attitudes of all office staff is there to promote transparency.
