COD names three administrators
Three administrators have been appointed at the College of DuPage, though one board member says she was disappointed in the applicant pool generated by one of the searches.
Beginning next month, Catherine Brod will become the college’s new vice president for development and director of the college’s foundation. She replaces Sharon Mellor, who left to become the new CEO of the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation.
Trustee Kim Savage, who serves as board liaison to the COD Foundation, said she wishes there were more applicants for the open position.
Still, Brod’s appointment was approved unanimously by COD’s board.
A total of 14 candidates applied — eight of whom did not meet the minimum requirements. Only three were interviewed by a nine-person search committee of COD administrators.
Brod served as vice president, chief advancement officer and executive director of the foundation at Harper College from 1997 to 2012. That’s also where COD President Robert Breuder was president from 1998 to 2008.
Brod’s annual salary will be $169,000.
Meanwhile, Donna Stewart has been selected as COD’s new dean of business and technology. Stewart was most recently interim dean of the College of Management at the University of Wisconsin. She replaces Karen Randall, who retired. Stewart’s salary will be $138,000.
COD Deputy Police Chief Joseph Mullin was promoted to chief following the retirement of Mark Fazzini. Mullin’s salary will be $108,000.
