Judson professor wins $22,500 on “Jeopardy!”

Lynn Hammerlund of Lake in the Hills is new “Jeopardy!” champ after getting a final question that was right up her alley. The answer? Wrigley Field.

Hammerlund, 52, a Judson University associate professor, was in the lead in Thursday's episode before entering the “Final Jeopardy!” round, whose category was sports and movies.

She correctly gave the Chicago landmark as the answer to a question about which facility at 1060 W. Addison was given by Elwood as his home address in the movie “Blues Brothers.” Hammerlund, who also serves as president of the Algonquin Area library board, ended with $22,500 in her pocket.

Hammerlund is a member of Judson's trivia team and has been watching the show since age 10. She was on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” in 2000.

This was the third time she got a call to audition for “Jeopardy!” after taking the entry test. In September 2001 she couldn't get on a plane, and in 2008 she needed to attend the funeral of her mother-in-law, who was also a big fan of the show, she said.

“This time it was meant to be, everything worked out perfectly,” said Hammerlund, who wore her mother-in-law's cross at the taping for good luck.

Hammerlund battled against Amy Stephenson, a writer and editor from Sunnyside, N.Y, and Naved Sheikh, an attorney from New York City.

The next episode airs Friday at 3:30 p.m. on ABC 7.
