Frosty Fest coming to Gurnee Jan. 20

Frosty Fest, the Gurnee Park District’s evening of wintertime family fun, is set for Friday, Jan. 20, at Viking Park.

The fourth annual event will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the park at 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee. It is free to attend.

Winter activities include: visits with Frosty the Snowman, snowman-building contest, music and crafts in the “Snowflake Village,” and marshmallow roasting.

In addition, dog sled demonstrations will take place every 15 to 20 minutes beginning at 5:45 p.m., ice sculpting is from 6 to 8 p.m. and carriage rides will run continuously, with the last ride scheduled for 7:45 p.m.

Music will be provided by K-Hits 104.3 FM and the Viking Junior High School Band from 6 to 7 p.m. in the dance hall.

Free cocoa/coffee provided by Caribou Coffee and snacks provide by Sweet Tomatoes will be provided while quantities last.

Bundle up and make some memories with Gurnee Park District. Activities are subject to change based on weather conditions.

Additional parking is available at the Gurnee Community Center and the north lot of the Warren Township High School O’Plaine Campus.
