Villa Park man struck by freight train

A 28-year-old Villa Park man was hospitalized in serious condition Wednesday after being struck by an eastbound Union Pacific freight train on the 500 block of West Division St., authorities said.

Villa Park police said they found the man on the railroad right of way at 10:44 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Investigators said the man was not at a grade crossing when he was struck. The incident remains under investigation, police said.
