Madoff son Andrew reasserts ignorance of father’s Ponzi scheme

Bernard Madoff’s son Andrew responded to a $198 million lawsuit by the trustee liquidating his father’s former brokerage, denying wrongdoing and reasserting his ignorance of the Ponzi scheme, according to a court filing yesterday.

U.S. District Judge William Pauley in Manhattan declined to hear an appeal of the lawsuit in December. Irving Picard, the trustee liquidating Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, is claiming money from Madoff family members including Andrew Madoff and the estate of Mark Madoff, who committed suicide in December 2010.
