The Central Lake YMCA in Vernon Hills is seeking women age 30 and over to participate in a free eight-week health and wellness program. “Press Play: Take Charge for Women” will teach participants how to best manage their own health and safety. Topics covered will include self-defense, kickboxing, physical fitness, yoga, sleep, mental health and nutrition. Most classes will include an informational component and a workout session conducted by one of the YMCA’s personal trainers. The program will run 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and 9 to 10 a.m. Sundays for eight weeks, Feb. 2 through March 25, at the Central Lake Y, 700 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.
