Schaumburg man, 49, dies after I-294 crash

A 49-year-old Schaumburg man was killed in an early morning crash on Interstate 294 near Des Plaines Monday, according to police.

David Adams was driving a Ford Mustang south on I-294 just south of Central Road when he lost control of the vehicle and eventually struck the median wall at about 3:50 a.m., police said.

“It is still under investigation,” said Illinois Police Master Sgt. Steven Legrand. “It does not appear that there was any alcohol or drugs that played a factor in the crash.”

Adams was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:37 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police said there were not many witnesses to the crash, and they were still trying to piece together what happened as of Monday evening.

Adams was the only person in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, Legrand said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
