Streamwood men charged in undercover operation

Two Streamwood men where charged with cocaine-related offenses in an undercover operation lead by Schaumburg police last week.

Alex N. Gigliello, 19, of the 4100 block of Rowley Court, was charged with delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park. Lucas A. Leon, 21, of the 700 block of Woodland Heights Boulevard, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. Bond for both Gigliello and Leon was set at $20,000 on Saturday in Cook County circuit court in Rolling Meadows.

Gigliello had told an undercover officer he could arrange the purchase of 14 grams of cocaine, Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Lesley Gool said. Undercover police picked up Gigliello on Jan. 13 from his house and drove to a Walgreens store in Streamwood. The officer gave Gigliello $480 to purchase the cocaine, Gool said. Officers who were surveilling the scene saw Leon approaching in his vehicle and stopped him. Leon admitted to officers that a McDonald’s bag in the back seat of his car contained cocaine that later weighed in at 23 grams, Gool said.

In a previous incident Jan. 10, the undercover officer picked up Gigliello at his house and gave him $120 to purchase 3.5 grams of cocaine from Leon, she said. The meeting point was also a Walgreens in Streamwood.

Gigliello and Leon are due in court Feb. 12.
