As our volunteers finished rationing out the “Toys for Tots” to our clients (thanks to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve), and our clients were provided a week’s groceries and a Christmas dinner, I am humbled by their heartfelt appreciation of the services we provide.
We have all worked hard to make the holiday a little brighter for the low-income families we serve, many of whom have reached out to us for the first time. A poor economy seems to hit the poor the hardest, and I think to myself, “There but for the Grace of God go I.” On their behalf, I thank God and ask for his blessings on each and every one who has supported us throughout the year.
Now, though, the question comes to mind: Who will feed these people in January or February? In fact, who will feed these needy throughout the year? At the Milton Township Food Pantry we will continue to do our best and we are hopeful that our friends and neighbors will do the same. If you or someone you know is considering any year-end giving, please remember our food pantry. Our address is 1492 N. Main Street, Wheaton, 60187.
If not us, then consider one of our partners in helping the needy: the People’s Resource Center, the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry or the Northern Illinois Food Bank. All donations are tax deductible per IRC 501(c)(3). On the other hand, if you find that you are in need, please come and see us.
