La Roca Tapas restaurant opens in Arlington Heights

La Roca Tapas, where owner Tim Trujillo promises “the world’s best homemade sangria” with European-style tapas plates, opened New Year’s Eve in downtown Arlington Heights.

The restaurant is at 6 S. Dunton Ave., the former home of Mario’s Trattoria.

Tapas plates are small servings of favorite dishes, with Trujillo saying he is best known for those featuring Spanish ham and chorizo.

“We are delighted to have another fine dining establishment in downtown Arlington Heights to complement our restaurant mix,” said John Melaniphy, business and development coordinator for the village of Arlington Heights.

A site among other popular eateries is healthy for restaurants, said Trujillo.

The restaurant’s hours are 4-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4-8 p.m. Sunday. Trujillo said he plans to add a lunch menu and establish a website. The phone number is (847) 483-9903.
