Free job-hunting workshops at Cook Park Library

In collaboration with the Countryside Association for People with Disabilities, Cook Memorial Public Library District will host three free job-hunting workshops at the Cook Park Library Computer Lab, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.

Registration is limited to eight people so early registration is recommended. To register, call (847) 362-2330 or go to webres.cooklib.org.

The classes are focused on building computer skills to give you a greater advantage when applying for jobs over the Internet.

The small group classes will be led by knowledgeable and experienced employment professionals and are open to everyone — including those with disabilities. Participants may register for any or all of these classes.

Ÿ The Basics of Online Job Searching — Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. Learn basic computer skills, online job searching, navigating employers’ websites, filling out assessments and job applications.

Ÿ Building an Effective Resume and Cover Letter — Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. Learn how to create resumes and cover letters that are sure to catch an employer’s eye. Bring in a printed resume to be reviewed and revamped, or learn how to start completely from scratch.

Ÿ Interview Skills Workshop — Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. Dress to impress, have all the right answers and ask all the right questions. Sharpen your interviewing skills by participating in this workshop. This class will involve a lecture, mock interviews, and group activities.
