Driver charged in Aurora pedestrian’s death

A 73-year-old Aurora man died Thursday afternoon shortly after being struck by a driver without a valid license, according to police.

Roberty Myzia was trying to cross North Farnsworth Avenue at Marshall Boulevard when he was hit by a northbound pickup truck driven by a 21-year-old Elgin man, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, Eric Pena of the 0-99 block of Vine Street in Elgin, was cited for driving the 1992 Toyota pickup without a valid license, driving without insurance and driving on an expired registration, police said.

The victim was taken to an Aurora hospital but died shortly after arriving, according to police.
