District 62 school board member resigns

Des Plaines Elementary District 62 is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the school board after Trustee Robert Suriano resigned Tuesday, citing family obligations.

Suriano was originally elected in 2005, and was re-elected in April 2009 to a four-year term. The candidate selected to fill his seat will finish out Suriano’s term, which ends in April 2013.

To be eligible, applicants must have lived within District 62 boundaries for at least a year preceding the appointment; must be at least 18 years old; a registered voter; a United States citizen; and not a registered sex offender.

Interested people should send a letter of interest and a one-page resume to the District 62 Administration Center, 777 East Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016, by noon Tuesday, Jan. 17.
